How to read our monthly sodium battery price records

The definitions behind our material and cell quotations: specification, period, unit, trade terms and evidence.

Our price centre records traceable observations, not a universal price for “sodium batteries”. A hard-carbon quotation, a bare-cell quotation and an installed-system offer answer different questions.

What every published record should explain

  • The product and specification, observation date and reference month.
  • The original currency and unit, delivery terms and tax basis.
  • Whether it is a supplier quotation, confirmed transaction or third-party assessment.
  • The source and sample count, with any material limitations.

Our publication rules

A single supplier observation is labelled as such. A range is not automatically a market average, and the midpoint is not called a transaction price. Records with different specifications or terms remain separate. We show a missing observation as unavailable rather than zero, and we do not invent intervening months to make a smooth chart.

Currency or unit conversions, if introduced, must retain the original record and expose the calculation basis. Month-on-month comparisons require a consistent specification and measurement approach.

Source access and corrections

Suppliers should confirm which information may be published. Third-party material requires the appropriate reuse permission; linking to a provider does not grant permission to republish its paid data. Fastmarkets’ published methods are a useful reference for transparent specifications; they do not endorse this website. SMM separately states restrictions on copying its data. This page contains no copied price series.

When an error is confirmed, the affected record should be corrected with an explanatory note rather than silently presenting the old figure as current.
