Sourcing sodium-ion batteries from China: an RFQ checklist

Turn a broad product enquiry into a comparable request covering specifications, evidence, delivery and after-sales responsibilities.

A useful request for quotation describes the application before asking for a price. The checklist below is an editorial procurement aid, not a certification of any supplier listed on this website.

Describe the intended use

State whether you need a material, bare cell, module or complete battery. Include required voltage, usable energy, continuous and peak power, temperature range, dimensions, duty cycle and target quantity. Specify the destination and delivery schedule.

Request a consistent evidence package

  • A model-specific datasheet with revision date and charging limits.
  • Test reports with methods, conditions, sample identity and issuing laboratory.
  • Batch traceability, inspection criteria and the proposed acceptance process.
  • Sample availability, production lead time, minimum order and change-notification procedure.
  • Warranty coverage, exclusions, service contact and replacement responsibilities.

Keep transport and product approval separate

Ask the supplier and logistics provider to identify the documents applicable to the exact product, destination and transport mode. UNECE’s Manual of Tests and Criteria includes sodium-ion battery testing provisions; this does not make every sodium-ion product automatically approved for every use or shipment.

Make quotations comparable

Require the currency, unit, tax basis, freight terms, payment schedule and validity period. Record who manufactures the product and who signs the supply agreement. A listing or a factory photograph is not a substitute for product evidence. Use sample qualification and a documented acceptance plan before committing to a larger order.
